Converting Vinyl Records and Cassettes to Digital Audio
Music enthusiasts digitize their vinyl and cassette collections to preserve them and listen on modern devices. Recordings from analog sources need format conversion, and file sizes must be manageable for portable listening.
Workflow
- Record the analog source through an audio interface, capturing as WAV
- Trim silence from the beginning and end of each track
- Use the Audio Converter to create MP3 versions for portable devices (320 kbps for quality)
- Create FLAC versions for archival purposes (lossless compression)
- Tag each file with artist, album, track number, and year metadata
- Organize the digital files into artist/album folder structures
- Back up the lossless versions to external storage
