Exporting Audio Stems for Music Collaboration
Musicians and producers share individual audio stems (vocals, drums, bass, synths) with collaborators who may use different DAWs. Stems must be in universally compatible formats, named consistently, and compressed for upload.
Workflow
- Export individual stems from the DAW as high-quality WAV files
- Use the Audio Converter to create MP3 versions for quick preview and reference
- Ensure all stems are the same length and start at the same point
- Name each file consistently (e.g. ProjectName_Stem_BPM_Key)
- Use the Audio Compressor to reduce file sizes if needed for upload platforms
- Share the stem package via cloud storage or collaboration platform
